Interactive Lesson #21- Can You Do My Homework For Me?

Welcome Friends
I’m so glad you’re here
My hope is that as you read, you’ll find inspiration or maybe even a new perspective.
Life is a journey, and we’re not meant to walk it alone
So, let’s walk together—learning, sharing, and growing in faith, one day at a time.

Am I the only one guilty of going through school and there were just times that
I did not want to do my homework assignment.
I am to tired, I don’t understand it, it’s boring, it’s too hard,
I just plain ole don’t want to do it….period

Am I the only one guilty of wanting to know the answer to a biblical question
so I ask someone who knows more about scripture than me.

What happens when we go through school and don’t really want to take your
homework assignments seriously then test day come or what’s even worse- a pop quiz.
Are you prepared on get a passing grade or do you slide down in your
chair feeling guilty and unprepared

Do you see where I am going with this?
Do you see the connection?

The same principle applies to your spiritual life.
Are you going to be prepared when satan blindsides you with a pop quiz-
a sudden temptation or a brutal season of testing.
The truth is- no-you’re not going to be prepared
You won’t have the knowledge you need to stand firm if you’ve been skipping your spiritual homework
of studying the Bible.

Matthew 4:4“But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”

For most of my life, I missed the mark on this.
God doesn’t present us with…spiritual preparation as an option,
nor does He say we can slack off when we feel like it.
Even though it is our choice to decide how much of a spiritual preparation we desire to have,
It should never be seen as a matter of convenience but a wholehearted devotion.
We are not free to do what we want.

Luke 9:23: “Then he said to them all: ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.’”

Following Christ requires daily commitment and should never be treated as an option.
When we build our foundation, we are equipping ourselves to stand firm against
the tests the enemy throws at us.
Unfortunately, for me, building that foundation felt optional, and I didn’t take it as seriously as I should have
so when satan would show up with pop quizzes and brutal tests I didn’t know how to handle the situation properly.
Instead of handling the situation according to Scripture, I reacted the way the world would
As a result, I would find myself overwhelmed by a mix of emotions—anger, sadness, hurt, jealousy, depression, vengeance, and guilt.
These emotions were nothing more than strongholds of Satan that comes directly from satan
leading me away from God’s truth and His way.

With a heavy heart, I have since learned my lesson
since I didn’t want to do my homework by making the time to read and study God’s Word daily,
because of that,
I had no right to expect much from my life- weaker decision-making skills, difficulty facing trials,
weaker relationships
but my Greatest Sorrow was when I realized that the one thing that I lacked most was a deep, intimate relationship with the Lord.
I was just settling for a surface level relationship, an immature relationship, shallower and more distant
because it was just easier to ask someone my question instead of me searching for the answers myself,
I just basically did not want to do my daily homework, I have no logical excuse.

God’s Word is necessary for our spiritual maturity. Without it, we remain spiritually immature
and have less of a relationship with Him
I have learned it this way-
Just as babies need milk to grow and we also begin with the basics.
But as we mature, we need solid food—a deeper understanding.

Hebrews 5:13-14-“Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness.
But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.”

Reading God’s Word deepens our relationship with Him.
This is what I have been missing out on,
The intimate, one-on-one connection with God. That deep personal bond with Him
like I have with my cat, yes it is sad but true.

So my question I would ask you is:
Do you want to skip the homework assignment and ask someone else to do the work for you
and just have a surface level relationship with the Lord
or do you desire a deep, personal one on one connection with the Lord and
spend time in His word every day, learning, growing and maturing?

I have lived the life of a surface level relationship and this is what i can tell you
1. I had weaker relationship with my family
2. I found myself stuck in the same ole worldly sinful patterns,
gossip, complaining, judging ect
3. When I faced challenges, all sorts of negative emotions surfaced which are nothing but
strongholds of satan over me

Revelation 12:9 “The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan,
who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.”

Now that I have a deep, strong, intimate relationship with God, this is what I can tell you
1. Spiritual growth has strengthened me to helps me resist temptation better
2. During my trials and hard seasons, I am able to handle it better in peace and comfort
3. My life is overall much happier
4. I wake up every morning with joy in heart even on the days that I am not quite up to par

James 4:8: “Come near to God and he will come near to you.”
John 15:5: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

For 42 years, I lived my life rooted more in the world than in the Lord.
Though God has graciously blessed me, I missed the mark of a deep, intimate relationship with Him
that I now long for.
Let me tell you—there is no greater joy, no deeper peace, than a life walking closely with God.

Let today be the day you take the first step toward a deeper relationship with God.
Don’t hold back or settle for less
Give God your time and discover the deep, personal relationship He desires to have with you.

Heaven Father
I come before You with a heart full of gratitude and humility.
I pray for those who desire to know You but feel unsure where to start
I pray for those who desire to have a deeper relationship with You
True joy and true peace only come from You as the world only
offers empty promises.
Let us be living testimonies of Your grace and of Your mercy.
In Jesus’ precious name, I pray.
Amen

I invite you to join me today in changing ourselves first
so we can change the world around us
