Prayers- Interactive Lesson #1

Let’s have a heart-to-heart talk today.
You are an important part of my life, and I care deeply about you.
I want this journal to be an interactive experience—just you, your heart, your prayers, and God.

Let’s talk about what is on your mind, what are you struggling with today, what is in your heart and on your mind, what are you praying for?

Let’s talk about prayers
What is prayers?
This is how we communication with the Lord our God to give him praise, thanksgiving, repentance, guidance, help, struggles, blessings and many more

For this study, we are going to focus on relationship struggles.
family, marriage, friends, siblings, co-workers
relationship struggles are a common denominator for everyone.

For this lesson, I want you to think about just one thing that you are struggling with, what is your one prayer to God that you would like him to help you with?

Take your time, look deep within your heart and when you’re ready, let’s move on

I have my relationship struggle and my prayer to God so now what is my responsibility and what is not my responsibility. What is God’s responsibility and what is not God’s responsibility.

What you are not going to do is just simple pray and wait for God to do what you are asking of him.
Just like at mealtime, you can’t just sit at the table and expect God to wave his magic wand and make dinner appear before you. If you want dinner, there are certain requirement of you.
Just like when you pray and ask God for help, there are certain requirement of you.

When we pray, there are two aspects to consider:
Our responsibility, and the other is God’s responsibility.
We must do our part, but we also need to trust God to handle His part.
However, sometimes God won’t take any action until we’ve done our part first.
God just might be waiting on you

Wait what?…waiting on me?
Yes, you heard me, God just might just be waiting on you to take that first step

You came forward with a prayer request. You reached out to God. You can’t just expect God to answer your prayer while you do nothing.

Let’s go through a few steps

Take Action:
God doesn’t want you to simply sit at the table of life, waiting for things to change. He wants you to take action and make an effort to change yourself. He can’t help you with your relationship struggles if you’re not willing to take the first step towards transformation. Take responsibility for your actions and decisions.
Galatians 6:5 states, “For each one should carry their own load.”
2 Thessalonians 3:10 -“For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: ‘The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.'”

Have Faith:
Trust that God hears your prayers and is with you every step of the way.
He knows what is in your heart and listens to your every word.
Recognize that you are not alone in this journey. God is with you, guiding and strengthening you.
Sometimes, God’s answers to our prayers may not align with our expectations, but we can trust that His plan is perfect.
Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Seek His Presence:
Seek God’s presence in your daily life.
Don’t just seek Him out when we need something, God longs and desires to have a personal relationship with you. Share every aspect of your life with God, not just your struggles and needs. Talk to Him about your joys and your dreams

Have Patience:
Understand that God’s timing is perfect. Sometimes change takes time, and God wants you to seek Him and grow closer to Him first. Align your heart with His will so that when He answers your prayer….
you are prepared to hold onto that blessing you are praying for. If He answers too quickly, it could be destructive so be patient.
Remember, God allowed the Israelites to wander in the wilderness for 40 years to prepare them for the Promised Land
Romans 8:25 “But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.”

Surrender:
Surrender your struggle to God. The ultimate resolution is in His hands. Sometimes God answers our prayers in the way we hope, and sometimes He doesn’t. This does not mean He is not a caring and loving God but rather, it means He might have something better for you.
Surrendering means trusting that God’s plan is perfect, even when it differs from our own desires.
Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.

God’s Responsibility:
Allow God to work on your behalf and trust in Him for the things you cannot control. Instead of meditating and stressing over what you can’t change, place your trust in God and His perfect plan. He calls us to live each day with joy in our hearts. Remain joyful and you’ll find strength and reassurance in His presence knowing that He is working for your good in every circumstance.

Romans 8:28 -“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

It’s been a long hard yet rewarding journey for me with my- relationship struggle prayer- to the Lord.
Developing and maturing in my relationship with God takes time and patience.
Working on improving myself so that God can change my situation around me requires both time and patience.
Though the journey is challenging and despite the obstacles, it’s truly rewarding.
