This morning bible in
2 Kings 4:38-41
This is a story where there is famine in the land and many prophets are hungry
A prophet goes out into the fields and gathers herbs and gourds and threw them into a pot not knowing what they were. When it came time to eat, Elisha noticed that the gourds were poisonous
and called on God to heal the soup.
The prophet should have known how to distinguish between edible and inedible gourds
As one Christian advises another, the same principle remains:
We must be able to distinguish between truth and falsehood and not based on
personal opinions, but in alignment to the standard of God’s Word
There are christians out there that may spiritually throw any gourd into the pot.
Any statement that contradicts the word of God is spiritual poison.
Attempting to reconcile with my family has been a challenging journey.
A family member has come forward, encouraging the others to reconcile by agreeing to disagree
and suggesting that seeking guidance from their pastor is unnecessary
As a believer, one should pursue reconciliation guided by the teachings of scripture
Just as the poisoned stew posed a threat to those who consumed it,
incorrect guidance can endanger our spiritual well-being if we ingest them uncritically
Without proper guidance to reconciliation, as stated in the Word of God, the door remains open for Satan to remain active
What God asks of us is quite simple, yet often it is pride and arrogance that hinder us
The story of the pot of stew serves as a reminder:
The importance of discernment and spiritual wisdom in our walk with God,
we must be able to have the ability to distinguish between what is true and what is not
When two believers of the same faith have differing opinions on scripture
it is wise to seek guidance from someone with greater wisdom
During times of uncertainty, it is often helpful to seek guidance from a pastor
In a world filled with spiritual deceptions and falsehoods, may we be like Elisha, discerning and wise,
ensuring that only that which aligns with God’s truth enters the pot of our hearts and minds
The Bible is rich with stories that teach us valuable lessons about faith, obedience, and the power of God.
