The Lord’s Prayer

The Lord’s Prayer represents worship, adoration, confession, gratitude and thanksgiving,
It highlights the magnificence of God, our dependence on Him, and the importance
of forgiveness and deliverance from sin

Matthew 9:13
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name
we are acknowledging God as the Father
recognizing His holiness and setting apart His name as sacred.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven
a heartfelt request for the establishment of God’s reign and principles here on Earth,
mirroring the perfection found in Heaven.
A deep yearning for our reality to be infused with the divine qualities of order, goodness, and harmony that characterize God’s heavenly realm.
A commitment to live by God’s desires and commands, aspiring for a world where divine will guides every action and decision, creating a reality that reflects the beauty, righteousness, and love found in God’s perfect kingdom.

“Give us this day our daily bread”
This reflects a deep trust in God as the provider of everything we need to sustain life,
from food to shelter and entrusting our immediate needs to God’s care,
also for the spiritual nourishment that sustains our Faith, Hope, and Love
God’s provision which nurtures body, mind, and spirit.

“And forgive us our debts
we seek God’s forgiveness for our wrongdoings,

as we forgive our debtors”
by forgiving others, we are essentially letting go of these burdensome emotions and trusting God to handle the situation according to His wisdom and justice.
this relinquishment of negative feelings like anger, resentment, or the desire for revenge
also contributes to our own spiritual and emotional well-being by freeing us from the harmful effects of harboring anger.

“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil”
This plea asks for God’s guidance to steer clear of situations that may lead us astray and calls for protection from evil.. It acknowledges our susceptibility to wrongdoing and the essential role of divine support in navigating through such challenges.

“For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever”
is a final acknowledgment of God’s sovereignty, power, and glory, affirming faith in God’s eternal dominion.
“AMEN”
Amen is a Hebrew word that conveys agreement, faithfulness, and truth
The word “Amen” signifies agreement, meaning “so be it.”

I can’t say OUR if I live for myself
I can’t say FATHER if i don’t try to act like a child
I can’t say WHO ART IN HEAVEN if I am laying up all my treasures here on earth
I can’t say HALLOWED BE THY NAME if i am not striving for holiness
I can’t say THY KINGDOM COME if i am not doing my part to align with Gods will
I can’t say THY WILL BE DONE if i am being disobedient in the word
I can’t say IN EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN if i am unwilling to serve him here and now
I can’t say GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD if i am not relying on him to provide
I can’t say FORGIVE US OF OUR DEBTS if i am harboring a grudge against somebody
I can’t say LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION if i deliberately put myself in the path of tempting places
I can’t say DELIVER US FROM if i haven’t put on the armor of god that he gave me
I can’t say FOR THINE IS THE KINGDOM if i am not loyal to the king as his faithful subject
I can’t attribute to him THE POWER if i fear what other people are going to do
I can’t ascribe to him THE GLORY if am seeking my own honor and my own glory
I can’t say FOREVER if my life is bound up completely by things of this world here and now
