Interactive Lesson #30-I kicked my roommate out.. Again

I have a guest who never pays,
He sneaks in finding clever ways.
He moves in without a sound,
Spreading lies that keep me bound.
He whispers doubt, he stirs up fear,
He loves to stay and linger near.
But I hold the key, I have the right
To make him leave, both day and night.
Who is he?

Welcome Friends
We all have that unwanted roommate who sneaks into our minds and thoughts.
The struggles we face each day, they’re nothing more than the enemy-Satan
trying to take up space in our minds.
So why do we let him stay rent-free? It’s time to kick him out.
But how do we keep him from coming back?
Scripture tells us to take our thoughts captive

2 Corinthians 10:5-we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

Satan thrives in negativity. A mind filled with negativity can lead to complaining, gossip, or despair.
The first step to eviction is acknowledgement. Don’t open that door to satan.
recognize when negative thoughts surface and take control
The key is to evict those thoughts before they have a chance to take over.
Make them obedient to Christ and stand firm in the truth of His Word

Don’t claim it and Don’t accept it
We don’t have to accept destructive thought patterns as our identity.
When we say things like:
“That’s just how my life is.”
“My family has always been this way.”
“I’m just a negative person—that’s who I am.”
“Drama is in our blood—it’s what we do.”
“I can’t control my temper—it’s just how I am.”
“Alcoholism runs in my family—it’s part of me.”
“This addiction is in my DNA—I can’t change.”

When we believe this, we are allowing lies to take root.
We don’t need to accept our destructive thought patterns
They are nothing but mindset traps of satan that people fall into
Instead of accepting them, we need to reject them and surrender our minds to Christ
We need to take our thoughts captive and redirect our focus to what honors God

Philippians 4:8:-“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble,
whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable
if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”

This verse encourages believers to focus their minds on Godly and uplifting things
Every single day we wake up and many times a days, we need to renew our mind but
the hardest part of life is-
Romans 12:2:
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.


When our mindset is focused on God then we listen to the news or receive a bad phone call,
our thoughts suddenly shift and we start to meditate on that.
Proverbs 23:7 “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.”
The things we allow ourselves to meditate on- shape who we are.
It is our choice of what we renew our mind to.

Many of our struggles in life start with a thought
We can’t fully shake off sin, because we are still living in the flesh.
But what we choose to focus on in our walk with the Lord
will determine whether I succeed or fail in living out His will for me

My challenge for all of us, myself included, is this:
When was the last time you took a thought captive and made it obedient to God’s Word?
What occupies your mind during the 24 hours of your day?
Every time a thought enters your mind, stop and think about it—identify it.
Where did it come from?
Did it come from you, the Father, or the enemy?
Our thoughts influence our emotions, decisions, and actions
We need to see our minds as a battlefield. Too often, we let the enemy stroll in and live there rent-free.
Your thoughts control your words, your words influence your actions, and your actions define your reality…
you become trapped in this cycle.…you get trapped in this loop.

Let’s all come together and help one another

Pray for one another:
Ask God to help us identify negative or destructive thoughts and replace them with truth
and something uplifting.
Encouraging accountability:
Self-reflection helps us to recognize when we are falling into destructive thought patterns
Creating a supportive environment:
Surround ourselves with people that lift us up, rather than pulling us into negative thought patterns
By uplifting and supporting one another, we can take action and break free from negativity

Our thoughts and actions help with spiritual growth- a deeper, ongoing relationship with God as we remain aware of how our mind operates.

Heaven Father,
I surrender my life completely into Your hands.
Shape me, refine me, and mold me into the person You have called me to be.
Transform my heart and mind so that my thoughts, words, and actions reflect Your truth and love.

Help me to recognize and guard my thoughts, casting out anything that is not of You.
Strengthen me to resist negativity, doubt, and temptation, and replace them with faith, wisdom, and peace.
May my every thought and decision glorify You and draw me closer to Your will.
