The Invisible Hand: The Role of God in Shaping My Destiny
Looking over my shoulder at the past two years of my life,
I find it extraordinary how God masterfully arranges life’s events and interactions that has shaped my own unique destiny.
Roughly two years ago, I made a choice that, unbeknownst to me at the time, marked the beginning of my transformative journey. It was a shift from a life driven by my own desires to one guided by faith and led by God
In our childhood years, when kids argue, who typically makes the final decision?
Naturally, it’s the parent, the one who has authority over them
As adults, in the event argument,
There is only one who has the authority to decide for us:
God, and God alone.
Rather than being sent to our rooms like a parent does with a child, God guides us on a wilderness journey to correct our behavior…transform us. The duration of our stay in the wilderness varies, depending on when we finally understand HIS lesson
A year and a half journey God has taken me on
…….the wilderness journey
Embracing Our Wilderness: Lessons from the Israelites’ Journey to the Promised Land
The Wilderness Journey of the Israelites
Exodus chapter 13
The 40-year period in the wilderness served as a time for the Israelite nation to grow spiritually and morally. Freed from the influence of Egyptian slavery and idolatry, they were being shaped into a people who would be able to live according to the laws and commandments given by God and to establish a society based on these principles in the Promised Land.
Learning Obedience and Trust: The wilderness was a testing ground. Through various challenges and trials, the Israelites learned the importance of obedience and trust in God. Their failures, such as the incident of the Golden Calf (Exodus 32), highlighted their need for God’s guidance and the consequences of disobedience.
Dependence on God: In the wilderness, the Israelites were completely dependent on God for their basic needs, including food and water.
Understanding God’s Holiness and Justice: The laws given and the various incidents where God had to discipline the Israelites, helped them to understand God’s holiness and His call for them to be a holy nation. They also learned about God’s justice and the seriousness of sin.
Lessons for Our Lives
Much like the Israelites, our own ‘wilderness’ experiences serve a purpose.
The importance of faith and obedience
This can be times of growth, learning, and transformation. Our difficult times prepare us for future opportunities and blessings.
my personal wilderness journeys, though challenging, is not without purpose
As a believer, there will come a day when I stand before God, and He will we ask me,
“Denise, what have you done with the life I that I have given you?”
In that moment, I am became overwhelmed with emotion
How can people find God if they don’t see him though me
While studying the Bible, it became clear to me that despite my belief that I was a good person, His teachings revealed that there is still much room for my improvement
My wilderness journey has ended; I’ve reached the Promised Land.
Now begins the more challenging phase of my life
I have this head full of knowledge that means absolutely nothing unless until I apply it.
knowledge alone isn’t wisdom. Wisdom comes from living out what I’ve learned.
It’s about making decision’s that align with His teachings
God’s grace is a safety net that catches me when I fall and helps me to stand back up.
So, as I step forward into this new chapter, I am ready to apply the lessons of my past and eager to embrace the growth of my future. I know there will be setbacks and challenges, but with God’s grace and guidance, I am prepared to meet them with courage and faith.
