Welcome Friends,
I know what you might be thinking, acceptable sin? there is no such thing as an acceptable sin.
I am glad you joined me today to for another one of my lessons.
Growing in my relationship with the Lord is a deeply personal journey for me, and sharing these lessons with you brings me great joy.
Let’s walk this path together, learning and encouraging one another along the way so
we may all experience personal growth and draw closer to God.
So, what is acceptable sin anyways?
Let’s say that you’re driving down the highway late at night. It is raining and your window wipers are going back and forth along with the hum of the engine in the background. You’re barely aware of anything but the endless stretch of the road and your mind is in a fog as you’re watching the yellow line . then out of nowhere a deer runs out in front of you and your jolted out of that fog.
Sometimes, as Christians, we find ourselves drifting through life in a similar fog.
When we start getting comfortable in our lives, we become less aware of our sins and it starts becoming a natural part of our everyday life.
It’s no big deal…..to complaining to my best friend about those little annoying things that my husband does or maybe you’re taking a walk with your spouse and being critical and judgmental about the people’s lawns as your pass by. How about those times you are out to lunch with your sibling and the conversations are–did you hear– and you answer back–no what? Everday grumbling under your breath and talking negative about something
This is what I like to call acceptable sin-sin that just becomes a natural part of our lives.
As we fall into routine, we might not realize that we are getting lazy with our sin.
We might become numb to certain sins because we have been practicing them for so long that these behaviors have become a habit
It often takes a crisis to jolt us into awareness.
Such moments of crisis can act as reminders that God is giving us a much-needed wakeup call.
We must break free from the foggy mindset that we have been driving in for way too long.
God understands that we mess up and sometimes He needs to give us a jolt to wake us up to change our direction and to change our ways.
James 4:17 says “If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.”
Today, I challenge you with these questions:
-How deeply do you desire to grow and mature in your faith?
-Do I want to gain more knowledge like going thru grades in school and advancing in different subject?
or do you want to be content with barely passing each grade in school with a D?
-Do you want to aspire to excel and be your best or just be content with where you are at?
-How fast are you willing to run to Jesus–to the cross and repent when you make a mistake?
-Are you willing to be teachable?
-Are you open to humbling yourself and seek God’s guidance for redirection?
I used to be the driver of that car, watching the yellow line blur by, unaware that I was stuck in a repetitive and sinful routine. It had become a part of my life that I accepted, with no intention of changing anytime soon. But then, God allowed a crisis to jolt me awake. It wasn’t fun or easy, but it was absolutely necessary to pull me from the clutches of the enemy.
Change is not easy, but through my willingness to change and humble myself before the Lord, He reveals
to me what I need to change through the stories and characters in the Bible.
Through the Old Testament stories when disputes and trouble happened, God is allowing different perspectives of different people. God is revealing different perspectives from all sides of everyone involved and this has been a real eye opener to me in my relationship disputes.
Being open to see how the chain of actions led to the undesirable outcome and how I need to fix the one link in my own chain.
It’s all too easy to become desensitized to our sins.
These sinful behaviors and attitudes may no longer seem wrong.
We might no longer feel guilty or recognizing the need for repentance.
As a result, it can hinder our relationship with God and prevent us from living a life that fully honors Him.
By seeking the Lord’s guidance to identify and acknowledge the sins that have become routine in our daily lives, we open the door to a deeper and more genuine relationship with God.
When we have a deeper relationship with God, our relationship with other becomes more deeper as well.
We must remember that it is through His grace and our readiness to change that we can break free from routine patterns, allowing us to grow and mature in Him.
Dear Heaven Father
I don’t wish to get by with anything anymore. If i am doing things in my life that i am not seeing-open my eyes and unstuff my ears and deal with me however you want to. Wake me up, Lord so I may break the patterns of my of sinful habits. I desire to fully honor You as I start my day today,
I choose to follow You Lord and not world. I choose to excel and not just let life pass me by.
Thank you for loving me so deeply that you would do what is necessary to guide me back to You.
Amen
