Godly Sorrows vs Worldly Sorrows-Interactive lesson #4

Welcome All
Thank You for your dedication of opening your heart and following me as we grow together in the word of the Lord
to change ourselves so we can change the situations around us.
Through my deep studies, I would like to share with you…..sorrows

As followers of the Lord, it is crucial to recognize the two types of sorrow we encounter
To be able to recognize the nature of our remorse and take appropriate steps toward genuine repentance and spiritual growth

Godly Sorrow and Worldly Sorrow

Godly Sorrow compels us to thoroughly examine our hearts and to recognize and acknowledge our sins.
Godly Sorrow is a heartfelt remorse for sinning against God.
Godly Sorrow leads to sincere repentance and results in genuine change of heart.
Godly Sorrow leads to a lasting and meaningful relationship with God

Worldly Sorrow is a kind of remorse that is focused on the consequences of sin rather than the sin itself.
Worldly Sorrow might make us feel bad about our actions but not take meaningful steps to change.
Worldly Sorrow does not result in a genuine change of heart or behavior.
Worldly Sorrow is often defensive
Worldly Sorrow avoids accountability of our sin and makes excuses for our sins
Worldly Sorrow can harden our heart

2 Corinthians 7:10 “Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.”

A conviction by the Holy Spirit should causes us to grieve even over the smallest sins. This conviction is the Holy Spirit’s way of drawing our attention to areas in our lives that need change. When we truly repent and change, we enter into a life filled with peace and joy

Worldly Sorrow is reluctant to face and acknowledge our sins. It’s more of a superficial regret rather than a genuine change of heart. This type of sorrow fails to lead to true repentance and spiritual growth.

Worldly Sorrow can harden your heart as you continue to ignore the Holy Spirit, causing you to become numb to its prompting. The longer you ignore the voice of the Holy Spirit, the more difficult it becomes to hear. When you ignore conviction and change, it turns into disobedience.

Ignoring conviction and change for too long may lead to God disrupting the things that are not of Him. He may allow chaos to awaken us, which serves as His mercy and love in our lives, calling us back to genuine repentance and alignment with His will

Every believer has the holy spirit but does the holy spirit have you?

When we fail to acknowledge our sin, it can lead to spiritual apathy and distance from God.
This can create a barrier between the believer and the Holy Spirit which can hinder God’s work in our lives

Ephesians 4:30 “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”

Maintaining a close relationship with the Holy Spirit requires sensitivity to His guidance. True repentance involves not only acknowledging and turning away from sin but also making a conscious effort to change behaviors that grieve the Holy Spirit

2 Corinthians 7:11
“See what this Godly Sorrow has produced in you: what earnestness, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what concern, what readiness to see justice done.

Let us come together and honor the Matthew 18 procedure. Let’s be humble and to accept correction, not from just anyone, but from those who are God-fearing and grounded in His Word. People who have the right, the authority, and the place to correct us. Let’s seek an accountability friend who can support us in staying on course in our spiritual journey. Let us not be too prideful to heed their counsel.

Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.”

I challenge you to explore further on your own. YouTube offers many videos about Godly Sorrow and Worldly Sorrow.

Dear Lord our Heaven Father,
I come before you with an open heart. I pray Lord for you to open our eyes and reveal our sins instead of merely overlooking them-unacknowledged
Make aware to me aware of the sins that I am ignoring.
I am listening Lord and eager for the Holy Spirit to stir my heart, leading me to true repentance and a new path of a changed heart…The Godly Sorrow
I no longer wish to ignore the Holy Spirit’s prompting as I wish to change my heart, change my direction and truly change myself.
Amen
